Vision and Mission

The humble metamorphosis of Judge Juan Luna High School started in the early 1960’s when a make-shift  structure was erected in a 5,825 square meter lot donated by a philanthropist, Dr. Judge Juan , during the SY 1962-1963. The school was initially named San Francisco High School ( Judge Juan Luna Annex).Mrs. Florentina Gorospe hurdled the challenge  of being the first Officer in Charge ( OIC) School Administrator. The initiation was never easy as the school started from scratch. However, inadequacy  served as an inspiration to strive and gather resources  from external and internal stakeholders. After Mrs. Gorospe, Mrs. Regina Novales took over the administrative duties. Together with 28 teachers, they were able to accommodate 14 sections .  Then a   Pre-Fab  Marcos building was erected which temporarily  housed students  from  San Francisco High School ( Quezon City Science Annex) , who after their independence from the mother school  San Francisco High School, found their new home in a portion of the Quezon City General Hospital, before they finally transferred to the present school grounds.graph here

In October 1968, Judge Juan Luna High School became independent. Mr. Justo Ramos ( 1968-1972) , the first school head after the school’s independence  led to the school progress and development. Mr. Ramos was replaced  by Mrs. Emilia Font ( 1972-1982) . For a decade, there was an increase  in the enrolment , a deployment of more teachers and an erection of the Bagong Lipunan building. She also envisioned a three- storey building  that would connect the two original buildings, however, she had  retired from the government service by the time the fund was released. Mrs. Aurora Taguba ( 1981-1984)  left her most applauded legacy  of ( 1)  Changing of the school uniform from maroon color ( the school uniform of the mother school )  to green checkered  design;  and (2)  implementing the punishment and reward system  which pushed both students and teachers to their limits to excel. Soon after, she was replaced  by Mrs. Angelina Yangco ( 1983-1984) who thankfully  continued the school projects her predecessor initiated. In 1984, Mr. Victorino Cano ( 1984-1989) took over, this time as a fatherly principal  to the school. Aside from continuing projects implemented by his predecessors, his parental care towards the students and teachers transformed into a congenial effort. The 90’s offered the Lunarian dynamic, enthusiastic and able School Principals in the person of Dr. Amelia  Castelltort ( 1989-1990) Teresita Turla ( 1990-1991), Lilia Sahagun ( 1991-1992), Lumen Velasco ( 1992-1996) , Exequiel Calixtro ( 1996-1997), Paz Viloria ( 1997-1999) and Sally Barcelona ( 1999-2004). The school was blessed to convert academic rooms to Computer Laboratory, Technology , Livelihood and Entrepreneurship  ( TLE) Practice House, Learning Centers, Science Labs, an Audio-Visual Room  and even a Munting Museo. Under the leadership of Mrs. Felicisima Tanedo ( 2004-2007) , the school encountered a devastating experience. On February 16, 2005, the school buildings and facilities burned into ashes, sparing the Calalay and Mathay buildings. As reported, the cause of fire was accident in nature. Dr. Jose Dividina was transferred to Judge Juan Luna High School on June 5, 2006. As a visionary administrator, he was instrumental in the realization of the completion of SB and DepEd Buildings.  Through his leadership, donations from the benefactors such as NGO’s , LGU’s  and other civic minded people poured in. The shortage  of computers, books and other teaching materials  had been addresses which helped the teachers  improve the school performance. On December 10, 2012. Judge Juan Luna High School welcomed  Dr. Lucia D. Herrera Her administration focused on academic enhancement activities to improve performance. Dr. Leila V. Ancheta became the Principal on July 20, 2015 until mandatory retirement on July 19, 2017.   While waiting for the new school principal to be installed , Dr. Liberato Barsaba, CD 1  Public Schools Division Supervisor , handled the school from July 20- 26, 2017. On July 27, 2017, Dr.Arliana A. Arboleda was designated as the new school head. “Bold as a lion: gentle as a lamb”, she enforced discipline leading towards culture of excellence for both the teacher and students . Envisioned reforms in skills and academic standing of the school, Dr. Arboleda, who is the present school head, led the stakeholders towards engineering roads to academic reforms and success. With the advent of the new principal Ruby U. De Jesus on June 21, 2019,” A leader who is one who knows the way” ( John C. Maxwell). She ignited the Lunarian spirit “#Go For One (Juan) “ the culture of disciplines, productivity and excellent among the students and faculty and strengthening the linkages among stakeholders.
